EVENT NOTES

UFC 290 PPV event was announced by UFC during the press conference for UFC 285 in March 2023. It is part of UFC International Fight Week 2023.

It was earlier reported that Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic fight for UFC Heavyweight Championship was in work as the headliner bout, but that bout might was moved to a later event. A title unification bout between Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanowski and interim champion Yair Rodriguez is the main event for this show now.

A trilogy bout between Brandon Moreno and Alexander Pantoja for flyweight championship was announced to be the co-main event as first revealed by UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell. Pantoja has won both his matches against Moreno so far. Brandon Royval was later revealed to be the back-up fighter.

Jalin Tuner vs Dan Hooker bout was earlier planned for UFC 285, but Hooker withdrew due to an injury. The bout was later made official for this event.

Yazmin Jauregui vs Denise Gomes bout was earlier announced for UFC Jacksonville Fight Night on June 24. It was later moved to this event.

Former Champion Robbie Lawler will fight Niko Price in a welterweight bout. UFC President Dana White announced that this is Lawler’s retirement fight.

Jimmy Crute vs Alonzo Menifield ended in a majority draw at UFC 284. The rematch was then booked for UFC 290.
